[Digital] Two pictures: Damien and Sarah

Let’s commemorate the end of the holidays (ugh) by posting two more pictures, this time from the end of 2009/very beginning of 2010.

Damien de Laplace is an old, old picture, commissioned in 2007 by a friend. Due to various circumstances, I only managed to complete it by the end of 2009, just in time for Christmas. It depicts his character, Damien, a vampire able to practice magic, in 1927 Vienna.

Cat’s Cradle deals with one of my characters, this time: Sarah Valentine, a young mage imprisoned in Bedlam in 1880, whose powers were used to do harm by the doctor in charge of healing her mind. Her speciality was Mind and Correspondence magick, and she used red strings as a focus, hence the title and composition.

[Traditional] First 2010 update (at last)

Many things happened in the past year, that made it so that 1) I didn’t take care of this website, 2) I didn’t draw much either. But since this is an art blog, and not the place to blabber about those things (which were mostly good things, so no worries anyway), let’s get to the point: an actual update:

Here are two pictures I drew with India ink in 2009. Der Hölle Rache was inspired by the Queen of the Night’s aria in Mozart’s famous opera, The Enchanted Flute. As for Surprise, You’re Dead!, it stemmed from a World of Darkness related ‘joke’.

More to come soon, because I’ve been more productive again since December or so.

[Digital] Spring update

I’ve added a couple of pictures to the digital drawings gallery. Both are fairly recent, and representative of what I like doing these days when it comes to art.

Enter Sarai is an illustration I drew for Vanessa Du Frat’s second drawing competition, back in December 2008. The aim was to illustrate a scene or a character from her online novel in French, Les Enfants de l’Ô.

Something Wicked This Way Comes is, as happens a lot with me, an illustration I drew in a couple of hours, under a sudden spell of very unexpected inspiration. I may or may not use this man/creature as a NPC in my next Shadow Nexus scenario.

[Digital] Helga and Lady Hyde

Here are some of the most recent pictures I’ve drawn (both done in December 2008, although Helga’s drawing was started some time in December 2007, when it comes to its draft…).

Dark Queen Helga is actually a (belated) gift to S., her player in the Mage: the Ascension Chronicle for which this character was created.

She Is Charming is one of these spur-of-the-moment pictures I sometimes happen to do, and I’m very happy about it.

2008: The last update

The year is drawing to a close, and so I decided to do a last update before we officially switch to 2009. It’s the least I can do after having left this site all alone in its loneliness for months, not to say for more than a year.

Again, I’m only uploading a couple of pictures, but be assured that having had some time to draw during the Christmas break, I’ll still have a few other things to show you at some later date. Happy new year everyone.

Buried under school work most of the time, I’m once again terribly late in updating this website, especially considering the fact that I still have a few ‘recent’ pictures (i.e. drawn this past summer) to put in my galleries. I guess this is starting to sound old, right?

A few months ago, I presented a work in progress titled ‘Lady Hyde’. Since the Lady has been a finished picture for quite some time, here she is, in all her colour glory (and proof that I can still pull out a nice use of the gradient mesh tool when I’m ready to put some effort in it).

It’s been a couple of weeks, and since I’m not done updating the last batch of pictures I’ve drawn since I’ve got my License degree, here’s another update. This time, it’s all for Mage: the Ascension—one for the ongoing Chronicle I’ve been part of for years (The Angel’s Stone: ReDux), the other for my own, short Chronicle (Shadow Nexus), set in Victorian London.

Adding more traditional drawings

Some more fodder for the Traditional and Mixed Media galleries—digital works are great, but sometimes I just need to have the feeling of fresh inks on my fingers (yes, I am a pig when I do traditional artwork).

What I’ve added today is closer to character-design than full illustration, and probably not as good as what I’d be able to do if I had more time to practice, but no matter what, I like those pictures, and I enjoyed working on them a lot.
